Melbourne Wedding Weekend

Melbourne, the city filled with four seasons in one day, bucketloads of afl fanatics, romantic old trams and of course endless delicious vegan hotspots. This particular weekend it was also filled with a herd of Youngs, descending on the crisp city for a gorgeous wedding. This weekend was filled with so much love and family connection. To be with my baby nephew Iluka (Oh did i mention i'm an aunty now?! Blog I'd like to introduce the sweetest little ball of squish Iluka Benjamin Young). To be with him of a morning when he was all smiles, to laugh with my cousins over a nice glass of wine and to celebrate a wonderful couple made the soul filling weekend complete.

I'm somebody who likes to know exactly where i'm going, at what time with an exact plan. When you arrive in a newish city it takes some adjusting and understanding. The first day when we mixed up our trams I thought to myself 'hmmm i'm not sure about this place' by that evening at a little unmarked vegan cafe I thought 'oh I don't mind it here' by the fourth day on a roof top with a vegan pizza in the sunshine surrounded by old architecture and a nice rosé, I thought 'when can I next come back!'. This long weekend in Melbourne can be best felt and understood in photos. Here is my brief little photo blog of a city which is very much growing on me.

We explored parts of the city and found secret little vegan cafes. We meandered through the graffiti lanes and jostled about on the old tram. The day was capped by a huge family dinner were we all chatted until the restaurant closed and shared stories catching up on each others lives.

As Toby, Kirsty and baby Iluka arrived we all scooped him up for snuggles and smiles. Our little branch of the family had a gorgeous lunch at Higher Ground followed by a hilly walk (well worth it) to Raw trader for some Vegan goodies. We soaked up the Atmosphere of Melbourne and enjoyed walking down lanes upon lanes of graffiti and cafes. In an ALF mad city we found a pub close by which featured both codes. We moved our heads back and fourth between the NRL and ALF finals while sipping wine and chatting loudly over the roars 'BALL'

Today was the day. Leon and Rach's Wedding. We started the day with a girls morning. Mum, Kirst and i treated ourselves to a salon blow dry and a bit of a pamper. Once we were all glammed up we headed over to St. Kilda to watch the wonderful couple say I do. What a gorgeous location in the sparkling sunlight. Congrats Leon and Rach <3 After the ceremony we headed back to Dockland to celebrate the newly weds, Photo booth and all.

Our last day in Melbourne was spent upon a rooftop. The expansive Young clan spread across the space bathing in the sunshine. What a sweet day of chatting with family sharing wine, laughter and stories of the day before. Our 90 yr old Grandma held Iluka tight as he grizzled into her shoulder. These are memories that I will always keep close to mind. The warm sun and the loving unity of family.

Congratulations Leon and Rach. Thank you for getting us all together for a wonderful wedding and the perfect long weekend! Sweet memories. It is the smallest of things, the little gem of a cafe, the gummy smile of a morning, the shared song and laugh on the dance floor, the tight hugs goodbye. These are the sweet moments of life.

Peace and Love
